Description

This object is a disturbed face-on spiral galaxy located 130 million light years away in the constellation of Draco at a declination of +67 degrees.  The disk of this galaxy spans 2 arc-minutes in our apparent view, which corresponds to a diameter of 75,000 light years.

I could not find any detailed information on this galaxy.  I was surprised to see that this wasn’t an Astrobin Debut object.   @Caspian Ray was one of two people who imaged it.  He labelled his image with an interesting title.

I love the structure here.  I see two loose star stream rings – an oval ring around the core, and a more circular ring a bit further out.  The most distinctive aspect is the long arm which extends to the left.

Star clouds are seen to the above right and lower left of the core, in the outer disk.  Could these be the remnants of a recent merger, one which hasn’t quite settled down yet?  Perhaps they are in the process of being pulled into an arm structure for this galaxy.
